E is for eBooks

Ever since the eBooks were introduced to the publishing industry the war began, and lots of opinions  inundated cyberspace.

I was one of those that thought I never wanted to give up my books. I loved the smell of the pages, and the smell as I entered a library. (The memories come flooding in as I type.)

How far we've come. We should never be afraid of growth. I've lived to see color TV, air conditioners created for homes, then central air--then dishwashers and microwaves, electric typewriters, computers. So many other inventions like cell phones.

I welcomed and still welcome all new technology.

I love my Nook. I love the fact that I can travel with my library at my fingertips. Whether it be a Kindle, IPad, Google, Nook, or whatever eReader you prefer, the world of knowledge is at your fingertips.

Don't get me wrong, I still love books. I love the feel of the pages between my fingertips, but I have welcomed eBooks wholeheartedly.

The publishing industry has suffered, but I believe they have recovered as they all jumped on board and found a way to make it work. What has made it hard is that it came at a time the economy was struggling.

Last, but not least, eBooks have made it possible for many authors to self-publish and have the opportunity to show what they can do. Also, they're are so many free eBooks offered by first-time authors. My husband has read quite a few that he thought were excellent books.

I believe eBooks are the libraries of the future. I recall the movie The Time Machine, where Guy Pearce travels into the future and speaks to a computer that projects a holographic image of a librarian that can answer any question asked. I love this idea.

I say we need to all go into the future without any regrets and welcome new technology that will help make our lives better and easier--especially today with our busy lifestyles--and cherish the memories of our past.

Here's to eBooks! And the Future!
If you don't drink, that's really Koolaid in those glasses. (hehehe!)

I love real books but I wouldn't be without my Kindle. I sent the draft of my novel to my Kindle and gave it a read through. It looked like a real book but all the mistakes jumped out straight away.

I drop a leave a response when I especially enjoy
a post on a site or if I have something to contribute to the conversation.

Usually it's a result of the passion displayed in the post I browsed. And on this post "E is for eBooks". I was excited enough to leave a commenta response :-P I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it's allright.
Is it simply me or do some of these responses come across like written by brain dead folks?

:-P And, if you are posting on other online social sites, I
would like to keep up with anything new you have to post.
Would you list the complete urls of your public pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page
or linkedin profile?

Loved this topic. I agree, ebooks are the future. Fun Fact: HG Wells, who wrote the original Time Machine in the late 1800s predicted a "world library" of the future that would be easily accessible by everyone--and which has been recently likened to the internet and even ebooks. Just thought I'd add toss that out there in reference to The Time Machine. :)

What a great idea. I agree. In fact, I've also considered going to Lulu.com and having a handful of hard copies printed just for that very same purpose. Using my Nook for that purpose is an awesome idea.

I like that you can make notes and mark them like you would a hard copy.

Thank you for your comment. I started to research the older version but didn't have the time. Since the 2002 version was a redo, I was curious about that part. I'm so glad you knew, you definitely saved me the time, because I was going to go back and researchit some more.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy

I thought I would never read ebooks either. Then I found a book I wanted and downloaded it. Like you, I still love my print books, but I love my ebooks as much.
